For the 11th time in US News & World Report’s 16 years of college rankings, SUNY Geneseo has earned the #1 spot for Best Undergraduate Teaching in the Regional Universities—North category.
According to US News, the rankings for 2026 Best Undergraduate Teaching "focus on schools whose faculty and administrators are committed to teaching undergraduate students in a high-quality manner. College presidents, provosts, and admissions deans who participated in the annual US News peer assessment survey were asked to nominate up to 15 schools in their Best Colleges ranking category that have strength in undergraduate teaching."
In addition to Best Undergraduate Teaching, Geneseo was also ranked in the top 20 in these categories for our region:
#5 (tied) Top Public School
#13 (tied) among the Most Innovative Schools, up five spots from last year
The College also ranked 17th in the Overall Rank for the region, fourth for retention for public colleges, and sixth overall for public institutions—making Geneseo the highest ranked SUNY.
