Musical Theatre
REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE TIMELINE
Rehearsals: January 4 – February 2
Performances: February 3 – 6 at 7:30 p.m. and February 7 at 2:00 p.m. in the Robert Sinclair Black Box Theatre
Auditions: Wednesday, October 7 from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. in Brodie 218.
Callbacks: Thursday, October 8 at 6:30 p.m. in Brodie 218.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Please prepare one 32-bar musical theatre song. If you are auditioning for both shows, you may present another 16-bar selection to show contrast (not required). Please bring your sheet music in the correct key. A pianist will be provided.
Please bring a resume with a headshot or photo.
You must sign up for an audition time slot using the link below and, when your time slot is confirmed, you’ll receive an email with a link to a folder containing the libretto and other necessary callback material.

There is a single audition for both the Geneseo Chamber Singers and Festival Singers. All students who wish to sing in either choir, both returning and new, must audition annually. Auditions occur at the beginning of each semester. You do not need to prepare special music. If you do have a prepared NYSSMA or musical theatre solo, please attend the Tuesday audition with sheet music for the accompanist. Please sign up for an audition time by using the links below.

Auditions for MUSC 141, 241, and 341 Voice Class for the General Student:
- Tues., August 25, 11:30am-1:00pm, Brodie 114
- Wed., August 26, 11:30am-12:30pm, Brodie 114
Auditions consist of vocalization, range check, and pitch recognition. It is not necessary to bring any music to the audition. If you cannot make either day/time please contact Prof. Joan Floriano. (florianoj@geneseo.edu) or Prof. Kara Cornell (kcornell@geneseo.edu).
Voice classes meet weekly and are approximately 8-12 students. Each class is one credit. The classes cover folk songs (American or British), pieces from the Great American Songbook, representations from the American Musical Theatre post 1970, and other repertoire at the discretion of the instructor. Students learn the pieces together and the pieces are performed individually. Students learn and are assessed on all components of singing (breath management, resonance/tone quality, language production and delivery and emotional interpretation). There are two writing assignments and a listening assignment.

For your audition, please arrive 5 minutes before your audition time to warm up and prepare for the audition. Auditions will consist of playing through only the audition sheet.
