SUNY Geneseo University Police Department’s Lieutenant Matthew Tomaszewski and Officer Kyle Bree were awarded the 2023 State University of New York Chiefs of Police’s Life Saving Award for their rapid and professional response to revive an unresponsive student in 2022. The officers administered life-saving care to the student, who was reported as unconscious and not breathing. Student-run Geneseo First Response, an emergency medical response team on campus, provided additional medical attention and transported the student to the hospital. The officers were recognized at the organization's annual award ceremony earlier this month.
