G-steppas: Step Team at Geneseo

To promote diversity on SUNY Geneseo’s campus as well as give students who join a solid foundation in step as a form of dance. We wish to perform at several events on campus and as the opportunity presents itself, several competitions throughout the year.

Knightline Dance Team

Knightline's purpose is to entertain and perform at sporting events as well as to provide a welcoming, positive, and safe environment to our team members in order to build strong relationships and to grow together as a team. Along with performances, we perform at other organizations benefits and Relay for Life, host a Relay for Life benefit to help raise money for the American Cancer Society, and participate in/ host our own fundraisers. Routines are choreographed by team captains, and the team is advised by Jody Deloria, an adjunct professor in the dance department here at Geneseo. Knightline also holds many opportunities for building communication and leadership skills. We hold tryouts every fall.

Orchesis

Orchesis is a student run, semesterly club where anyone is welcome to join. Anyone can perform in a dance or choreograph a dance for our showcase each semester. We strive to be all inclusive and encourage everyone to dance regardless of experience. We fundraise and contribute to the Geneseo Dance Department, Teresa House, and Relay for Life.

Original Xpression

The OGX Dance Team’s purpose is to extend our love for dance to the Geneseo campus and community. Our intentions are to welcome students who don’t exactly fit in with modern and contemporary movements. We feel that the OGX Dance Team will offer another style of dance that will allow students not only from the urban areas of New York but including students of every culture to appreciate dance. The OGX Dance Team would like to perform at events hosted by Geneseo clubs such as talent shows, cultural dinners, Relay For Life, Geneseo Great Day. We host our own events and workshops throughout the school year. We partake in WOW and GLK programming. We also host a Spring Dance Showcase in which we portray our talents and host other Culture clubs or outside teams. We like to host activities in which we promote being active and traveling to nearby to spread our love for urban and cultural dancing.

Theatre Student Organizations

Currently Known As

Currently Known As: educates students in the art of improvisational theatre through guided practice, performance, and self‐evaluation so that the student may learn from their self and others. Currently Known As: believes that all students can learn to perform with the help of friends, dedication and perseverance. Thus, Currently Known As: will hold no auditions, or turn anyone away who desires to be a member of the troupe. To do this would be to deny the students an opportunity to learn, perform, make friends, and grow as a person.
