Logo Usage
Users of all SUNY Geneseo logos must adhere to the following parameters to ensure consistency. Please read through the guidelines before using any of the logos.
Clear Space

Clear space is the minimum amount of space needed between the logo and any surrounding elements, such as text or images. The clear space is measured using the width of the “G” from the Geneseo wordmark, as in the example above. Clear space allows for optimal readability, ensuring that the surrounding elements do not encroach on the logo and impair its legibility.
Minimum Logo Size
The minimum logo size sets parameters for how small the logos may be reproduced in both print and digital materials. These sizes ensure the logo remains readable without distorting its elements. The logos should still be produced at the largest size possible in the space they appear and never smaller than the minimum size.
Minimum Size for Primary Logo
- Minimum width for print use: 1.75 in.
- Minimum width for digital use: 350 px
Minimum Size for Secondary Logo
- Minimum width for print use: 1.5 in.
- Minimum width for digital use: 300 px
Alternate Brandmark
The SUNY Geneseo brandmark has many details that symbolize elements of the college identity. However, these details do not translate well when the brandmark appears at smaller sizes. In some instances, the brandmark may need to appear below the minimum size allowed. In such cases, an alternate version allows for detail clarity even at the smaller height.

When to Use the Alternate Brandmark
- Primary brandmark minimum size height for print use: 1.5 in.
- Primary brandmark minimum size height for digital use: 200 px
If the brandmark needs to appear smaller than the minimum size, the alternate brandmark must be used. Some examples of uses for the alternate brandmark are social media profile images, embroidery, and digital credential badges. The proper use of the alternate brandmark is determined by the Office of Communications and Marketing; it must not be used without approval. These parameters only apply when the brandmark is used without the additional logo elements.
Incorrect Uses of the Logos
- Do not skew or distort the logos
- Do not change or add colors to the logos
- Do not invert the brandmark (i.e., change the elements in blue to white, or vice versa)
- Do not move, remove, add, or resize elements within the logos unless it is another variation of the logo where an element is removed (e.g., tertiary logos)
- Do not change the typeface of any of the text in the logos
- Do not use Artificial Intelligence to create a new logo or generate any of the SUNY Geneseo logos for use
