SUNY Geneseo’s Ella Cline Shear School of Education has received accreditation through the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP), the largest comprehensive teacher education program in the SUNY system and one of the largest in the US.

The AAQEP accreditation is valid for five years. Geneseo’s School of Education has been accredited since 2006 through various accrediting organizations.

“Receiving this initial accreditation affirms the work our faculty and staff do every day to support the growth and development of future teachers,” says Jeanne Galbraith, interim dean of the school. “It reflects the strong partnerships we have built and continue to build with our school and community partners and the outstanding leadership through this process of our director of assessment and accreditation, Abbey Baird. I’m excited for our future as a school as we continue to grow and innovate in our preparation of the next generation of educators.”

In 2022, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) reaffirmed the college’s institutional accreditation.
