Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

As a part of SUNY Geneseo’s commitment to sustainability, the college offers the use of Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations to students, staff, and visitors. These guidelines establish how electric vehicle charging stations may be used by students, staff, and the general public. Anyone using the electric vehicle charging stations at SUNY Geneseo is subject to the following guidelines.

Costs For Charging

Charging station fees are collected via the Blink Charging app.

  • Session Fee: $0.49
  • Charging Fee: $2.00 per hour
  • Idle Fee: $5.00 per hour

After the vehicle has completed charging there is a 15 minute grace period. Vehicles remaining at the charging station after the grace period will be charged a $5.00 per hour idle fee.

All prices will be reviewed on a regular basis and are subject to change.

Rules For Charging

  1. Vehicles that qualify to use EV Charging Stations are plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and full electric vehicles (EVs).
  2. Vehicles must be actively charging to use the parking spaces associated with the EV Charging Station. Any vehicle parked in an EV charging station parking space without charging may be subject to a parking fine.
  3. No parking permit is required to be parked at and actively charging at a Blink Charging Station.
  4. After a vehicle has reached their maximum charge, they must be moved. Other parking spaces with B and TT lot may be used in accordance with the parking regulations. (i.e., a regular parking space in B Lot requires a staff permit; a regular parking space in TT Lot requires a resident permit.)
  5. A typical electric vehicle should be fully charged within 3 hours. Any vehicle remaining at a charging station after charging has completed may be subject to an idle fee and/or a parking fine.
  6. After a vehicle has completed charging, there is a 15 minute grace period before the idle fee is assessed.
  7. The campus assumes no responsibility or liability for damage to vehicles using the EV charging stations.
  8. A Blink account is required before you can begin charging. Charging fees must be paid through Blink to utilize the charging station.
  9. EV Charging stations are first come, first serve.
  10. In case of emergency, authorized campus personnel may disconnect vehicles from the EV charging station at any time.
