Program Details

Beginning in the Spring of 2018, the School of Education at SUNY Geneseo sent its first teacher candidate to Bangkok, Thailand for a student teaching experience at Berkeley International School. Instruction at this pre-K through 12th grade school is provided in English and the faculty are also native English speakers. The average class size is around 17 students representing over 31 nationalities school-wide. Candidates will stay in central Bangkok, the largest and most vibrant city in Thailand. Please visit the Berkeley International School website for further information.

The program includes a focused student teaching placement along with cultural visits and excursions within Thailand to bring meaning to this international student teaching experience. Online seminars with a SUNY Geneseo School of Education supervisor will address a variety of topics drawing on candidates' daily work in their classrooms and providing time to reflect on the similarities and differences between public and international school education.
