SUNY Geneseo makes another appearance in the Fiske Guide to Colleges. Inclusion in the guide is based on the quality of academic offerings and includes students’ social and quality-of-life ratings.

Fiske's 2023 edition notes that SUNY Geneseo offers students a serious academic environment at an affordable price and attracts high achievers who are taught by attentive and responsive professors. It noted Geneseo’s small class size, with 35 percent of classes having fewer than 20 students; leadership opportunities; honors courses; scholarships; and robust study abroad program. “SUNY Geneseo offers students the best of two worlds,” says the guide. “Given its size, professors can provide the kind of personal attention normally seen only at private liberal arts colleges; because of its public status, all that attention comes at a bargain price.”

Fiske Guide to Colleges was created by former New York Times education editor Edward Fiske, who launched the guide to provide better information on educational choices for college-bound students and their families. Three hundred schools are featured in the current edition.
