With nearly all of the holiday-season campus drives completed, the hosting departments and programs are reporting that an abundance of food, gifts, and other goods were collected for families and individuals who are in need in our region. The School of Education's multicultural book drive continues through Tuesday, Dec. 18.

Colleges Against Cancer Drive for Hope Lodge 

Geneseo's Colleges Against Cancer Club collected two "very large boxes" of non-perishable food, stationery items, kitchen paper and cleaning products, bath mats, shower curtains, and other consumables for Rochester's Hope Lodge. "The Hope Lodge is incredibly thankful for the goods donated by the SUNY Geneseo faculty and staff, as well as students."

Holiday Knights Food Drive

The non-perishable food collection at the campus-wide Holiday Knights gathering in MacVittie College Union Ballroom netted "a full SUV of food" for the Geneseo/Groveland Emergency Food Pantry in the Village of Geneseo.
 

Annual Adopt-a-Family Holiday Toy and Gift Drive

The Adopt-a-family gift drive benefited nine families this year. The campus community also donated hundreds of individual toys, books, and games for Catholic Charities. The donations "filled a 15-passenger van, with very little room to spare!" Representatives of the Livingston Co. Dept. of Health, who manages the family donations, and the people at Catholic Charities were "overwhelmed with the number and quality of the items donated." 
 

8th Annual Teddy Bear Toss

Sponsored by SUNY Geneseo Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the men’s hockey team, the 8th annual Teddy Bear toss scored 655 stuffed toys during the Friday, Dec. 7, Geneseo vs. Brockport Hockey Game. The toys will be donated to the Livingston County Chapters of Catholic Charities, Focus on the Children, and Foster Children of Livingston County.
 

Psychology Club Supplies Drive

A full box of school supplies, art supplies, school snacks, women and men’s personal care products and small general gifts were collected over five days by the Psychology Club to benefit RKids After School Enrichment Program. 
 

Multicultural Children’s Book Drive Continues

Through Tuesday, Dec. 18, School of Ed. Mailroom, South Hall 218
The School of Education's multicultural book drive continues through Dec. 18. To date, their efforts have resulted in approximately 30 donated books which will benefit the children of the Dr. Charles T. Lundford School No. 9 in Rochester, N.Y.
