Geneseo students are lending their social media savvy to regional businesses.
Four interns participated in the Small Business Development Center’s Adopt-A-Business Program this semester — Corinne Shanahan ’17, Kelly Driver ’17, Shannon Hayes ’17, and Heather Molzon ’18.
The students hold weekly office hours on campus and serve as social media experts for Livingston County businesses seeking assistance with marketing tools, especially strategy.
The four interns also presented to owners four different Livingston County downtown districts about social media management.
The program, run by SBDC and the Livingston County Economic Development Group, provides the opportunity to four interns each semester. Fifteen businesses have signed up for the service since September.
“These kids have the pulse of current social media strategies and it is wonderful to have their hands-on experience utilized by small businesses,” says Paul Morrell, SBDC director. “It also gives us an opportunity to provide some additional SBDC counseling in other areas pertinent to small business success.”
