The Greg ’64 and Elizabeth O’Connell Family Endowment supports general scholarships for students with financial need from the Downstate New York area with a preference for students living in Brooklyn, particularly the Red Hook area. In addition, the endowment will help fund an array of student needs in the Transition Opportunity Program (TOP) and Access Opportunity Programs (AOP).
Geneseo Community Engagement (GCE) is a new way to connect the resources at SUNY Geneseo with the needs of the community and vice versa. Combining the shared missions of several campus programs, GCE forges relationships between local residents and businesses and members of the SUNY Geneseo community.
SUNY Geneseo geology majors Megan Kopp '19 and Alyssa DeMott '19 will join Geneseo planetary geologist Nick Warner at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory Nov. 26 in Pasadena, Calif., for the scheduled 3 p.m. ET landing of InSight, NASA’s latest mission to Mars. The team will work for several weeks to characterize the area around the lander and make recommendations to NASA engineers on where to place the sensitive geological instruments that will explore the planet's crust, mantle and core.

Livingston CARES is offering more trips than ever before, to more cities. Eleven week-long trips will be offered in 2019 to students, faculty and staff, and community residents. Registration is open and trips are filled on a first come, first served basis.
SUNY Geneseo is hosting the North East Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls’ (NEACURH) Regional Leadership Conference, Friday–Sunday, Nov. 2–4. Approximately 300 students and professional staff members from 45 different institutions will be attending the conference.
The Geneseo Foundation and the SUNY Geneseo Alumni Association presented awards for philanthropy and service on Oct. 19 during Geneseo President Denise A. Battles’ annual donor recognition gala, this year a benefit to support the President’s Access to Excellence Scholarship Endowment.
The Trading Room in SUNY Geneseo’s School of Business is now the Edward Pettinella ’73 Trading Room in honor of the generous alumnus, whose $750,000 gift to the College will create an endowment to support the annual operating costs of the applied learning lab. The College cut the ribbon two years ago for the facility, which gives business students real-time trading experience.
SUNY Geneseo is included in the newly released 2018 edition of The Princeton Review’s Guide to 399 Green Colleges. The College has consistently been included in the annual guide since it was first published in 2010.
