Recent Internships

Graduating seniors each year have gone on to the NIH Postbac IRTA program. CRTA (Cancer Research Training Award, in the National Cancer Institute) provides recent college graduates who plan to apply to graduate or professional school an opportunity to spend one or two years performing full-time research at the NIH.

Career Outlook

Biology major jobs will see substantial growth through 2026. Zoologists, biochemists, medical scientists, and genetic counselors benefit from increases of 8%, 11%, 13%, and 29%, respectively. (US Bureau of Labor Statistics)

Why study biology at Geneseo?

The biology major provides students with the broad background necessary for various careers in the biological sciences and medicine.

Students gain an understanding of the basic principles of genetics, ecology, evolution, cell biology, and anatomy and physiology. They develop skills in scientific decision-making and written and oral scientific research presentation. The program also emphasizes an appreciation for biological diversity and stewardship for the earth.
