Latest Milne Renovation Updates

Milne Library is on track to open during the 2024-25 academic year. We’ve completed Phase One–demolition–on time, on budget, and on scope. We are now working on Phase Two which is the construction fit out of the library. Currently, the contractor is working on internal demolition of mechanical equipment and associated piping and ducts at all floor levels. Exterior excavation work is planned to begin immediately after Commencement in May 2023. The exterior construction work entails constructing new entry patios both on the east side and the south side of the library, foundation wall waterproofing, and constructing new steam lines along the east side of the library and along University Drive. Highlights include:
Large windows with beautiful views of the Genesee Valley
Increased seating throughout the Library
Group study rooms
A brand new events/multipurpose room for campus activities
A new cafe serving a variety of food and beverages, plus improved traffic flow making it easier for students to grab meals on the go
New and improved lighting throughout the building
New second entrance
The Provost's Office, Facilities and Library teams are leading the Milne project; many more are involved in this collaborative effort.
