In 2012, the college issued a statement about its mission to be increasingly sustainable for the environment and has followed up by creating the Office of Sustainability.

SUNY Geneseo is among the top colleges and universities in the country in producing volunteers for the Peace Corps, ranking 17th this year among medium-size schools with 17 alumni currently volunteering worldwide. Geneseo ranked 22nd in last year’s Peace Corps rankings.

SUNY Geneseo Professor of Education Leigh O’Brien has won a prestigious Fulbright Scholar grant to teach and conduct research at the University of Iceland in Reykjavik during the fall 2015 semester.

Before Dhan Adhi Kari started the English class for refugees, she had never written the alphabet of her native Nepalese tongue. She had never even held a pencil.

One evening two months ago, four sisters came to visit Jena Gullo ’98 at her office. at her office. Healthy and lively, the young women are successful in school, participating in activities like basketball and cheerleading, and have set their career goals high: becoming the first female Hispanic president of the United States.

Campus Auxiliary Services has always been a vital — and often inconspicuous — partner at Geneseo, enhancing daily life on campus by helping to make it tick. CAS also supports the college’s mission to be an innovative and effective environmental steward. It even provides scholarships and undergraduate research fellowships.

As more families seek meals with ingredients grown and produced close to home, Geneseo is doing its part to serve fresher foods and boost the regional economy.

It would be 18 hours before Alyssa knew her parents were safe from Superstorm Sandy, when her uncle texted her a photo taken from her own bedroom window in their Staten Island home. She saw her entire neighborhood flooded with water as high as the stop sign below.

During his seven-week scholarship, Viglietta will live with a family in Izmir, Turkey’s third-largest city, and attend university. Viglietta is the third Geneseo student to win the prestigious scholarship.

???????Ben Peterson ’12 is entering his senior year with two years of research examining plant proteins and neuron function already under his belt. He also has earned one of the nation’s most prestigious scholarships for aspiring scientists.
