The Ira S. Wilson Ice Arena is abuzz with activity preparing for Saturday’s two undergraduate commencement ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. An estimated 1,238 students will participate in the ceremonies.

The keynote speaker at both celebrations will be Jeri Muoio '69, who served two consecutive terms (2011–2019) as the mayor of the City of West Palm Beach, FL. The College will confer two honorary degrees this year. Mark Ashley ’77, the co-founder and president/CEO of the Centre of Neuro Skills will receive an honorary Doctor of Science degree during the morning celebration, and Joseph Carr, a Napa Valley, CA, fine wine producer, proprietor, and vintner, will receive the honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree during the afternoon celebration.

A member of the graduating class traditionally addresses fellow graduates at commencement, and Angela Joan Kubik, a biology major from Hamden, NY, will address the morning ceremony. Sabrina Bramwell, an English major from Bronx, NY, will address the afternoon ceremony.

Both undergraduate ceremonies will be streamed, which will be live for rehearsal Thursday, May 17 from 1:30–3 p.m. (approx.) and go live again at 8:30 a.m. on May 18 through 5 p.m. The recordings will be available on the same page for viewing on demand. Graduates of the School of Education will be recognized at the School of Education Convocation in Wadsworth Auditorium May 17 from 5–6 p.m. Awards will be given to School of Education scholarship recipients at the event. All School of Education graduates and their families and friends are invited to attend. A reception will follow.

Geneseo graduate students were recognized during a master’s degree commencement ceremony Friday, May 10. Sixty-three students received master’s degrees this year in either accounting or education. Addressing the graduate ceremony was Laurence T. Spring ’92. Spring is the superintendent of the Schenectady City School District in Schenectady, NY.
