PENELOPE

PENELOPE

Penelope is a FORTRAN language based program. It allows us simulate physical reactions by defining different parameters, such as energy and geometry. The two executable programs which we used mainly were PENSLAB and PENCYL.

We have used penslab to generate the information about back scattered, transmitted and absorbed electrons. The percentage of back scattered electrons was about 16.6%, which was close to Joy's number 18.4%.

At this point, we are still figuring out more about pencyl, which can modify the spider silk simulation process better.

Ultimately, we want to combine pencyl and penslab to simulate the actual spider silk situation, which is pieces of silk on top of an aluminum slab.
