Hello, my name is Amber Hess. I’m one of the Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) in Student Health and Counseling.

Since I was a little girl, I have always loved helping people. In 2008 I graduated from Licensed Practical Nurse school. I have worked in nursing homes, mental health clinics, primary school settings, and now college health.

When you come to the health center building in Lauderdale, I could be one of the first faces that you will see or talk with if you call us. If I’m not working at the desk, I could be a nurse seeing students for non-sick visits, running tests in the laboratory or assisting our providers with any procedure or testing needs.  Some of the non-sick visits I see are blood draws, asymptomatic STI testing, blood pressure and Weight check as well as suture removal.

I have the ability to manage situations of any nature due to my calm and caring attitude with a strong attention to detail. I'm kind, caring, attentive, team oriented, accountable and able to persist in the face of adversity. I'm always willing to try to help others out with the resources that I have available to me.

I grew up in Allegheny County and have lived in Wyoming County for the last 17 years. I currently reside with my husband of 5 years Forrest, my daughter Violet and our fur baby Moe Puppy.

In my spare time when not at work you can find me outside walking trails or on the water during the summer and on my snowmobile during the winter. Some of my favorite TV shows are Fire County, The Resident, any home improvement show or anything on the Food Network. During the football season you will find me rooting for the Buffalo Bills.
