Career Readiness Support with ArcGLOW

The OAS is partnering with ArcGLOW to offer career readiness support to students connected to the OAS through their Pre-Employment Transition (Pre-ETS) services.

About Pre-Employment Services

The Arc GLOW's Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) provides individualized consultation and real workplace experience to give students with a disability between the ages of 14 and 22 with the skills, knowledge and experience to prepare for employment.

Services provided take a person-centered approach to career exploration, and is designed to assist students in exploring and identifying potential career paths, while developing skills necessary to successfully transition. Services include: 

  • Developing work skills through participation in paid and/or non-paid work experiences
  • Job exploration counseling
  • Development of workplace readiness skills e.g., interpersonal 'soft skills', financial literacy, etc.
  • Self-advocacy support, such as knowing your legal rights and responsibilities in the workplace

Students meet with a Vocational Evaluator in a 1:1 setting right on campus or Zoom/Teams. Sessions are designed to fit your schedule!  

Eligibility

Pre-ETS services are for students in the Livingston County area who: 

  • Are 14-22 years of age
  • Have a documented disability
  • Enrolled in a recognized secondary or postsecondary (college) program

How to get started

  1. Contact the Office of Accessibility (OAS) by email (access@geneseo.edu), phone (585-245-5112), or in-person (Erwin Hall 22)
  2. Complete the VR Services Application (paper copies are available in the OAS)
  3. Disability documentation can be sent to Justin Martin at jmartin@arcglow.org. You can also complete a Release of Information form and request OAS to send your documentation for you.

Services are completely free!

What documentation is accepted?

Types of documentation that are generally accepted, but not limited to, include:

  • IEP/504b plan
  • Prescription for medications related to a disability
  • Documentation of needed accommodations
  • Doctor's note
How do the services offered benefit students?

Services aim to assist individuals in developing and building on skills that will be transferable throughout their academic and professional lives. These skills can help individuals become successful adult.

Is transportation provided?

Students must have reliable transportation to and from work-based experiences. Consultation with your Pre-ETS provider can take place on campus or virtually.

Can services end at any time, or is there a time commitment?

Individuals have the right to decline services at any time. Students must do their best to attend services as scheduled. Commitment is tailored to students' needs.
