Dining Operations Q&A

As a result of national supply and staffing shortages, we made the difficult decision to close our Letchworth Dining Complex this semester. This allows us to keep essential locations operational.  We will continue to keep our customers informed through measures such as this website, weekly updates to students, and frequent updates in social media, online menus, and digital signage. Below is a Q&A that will be updated as new information becomes available. Please continue to reach out directly to cas@geneseo.edu and provide us with any feedback.

Dining Operations

With Letchworth closing, what other dining options are available?

Mary Jemison Dining Complex hours of operation were extended and this location is available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days/week. Our Red Jacket location also offers three meals per day 7 days/week with an additional late-night menu. Our Starbucks Café is open 7 days/week. Hours of operation are available here.

When will other restaurants and cafés open?

We will open more services as quickly as possible as our staffing levels increase to allow us to do so safely. Please know that we are doing everything we can to phase in services as quickly as possible. We also are making accommodations for those with special dietary needs, including consultations with our Nutrition & Wellness Manager. If you have questions or concerns about how this news affects you, please contact us and our team will work with you.

Is there breakfast before 10:00 am?

Mary Jemison and Red Jacket open weekdays for breakfast at 7:30 am. There is a continental breakfast served from 9:00 am - 11:00 am on Saturdays and Sundays at Mary Jemison. Weekday breakfast includes a variety of menu items from oatmeal, cereal, bagels, fresh fruit and yogurt to home fries, breakfast sandwiches, eggs, sausage and bacon, and custom-made omelettes (RJ). There is a rotating menu of items like specialty pancakes, breakfast quesadillas, waffles and more. Our continental breakfast includes: bagels, toast (gluten-friendly options available), yogurt bar with fresh fruit with toppings, hot oatmeal with toppings, milk and cereal, or whole fruit, create your own waffle.

Where can I find healthy options like salads/wraps?

We’ve expanded our unlimited dining to include both our Smoothie and Deli stations at Mary’s in Mary Jemison Dining Complex. Our Smoothie station serves a variety of options including overnight oats. The Deli has a build-your-own sandwich/wrap/salad bar. Also at Mary Jemison, there is a salad bar located on the lower level with vegan options like tofu and hummus. Our Lotus station is gluten-friendly and features noodle bowls with daily vegetable and protein options that include tofu, and there are a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables available. We offer a build-your-own burrito bowl at the Asada station with tofu as an option. At Red Jacket there is a vegan/vegetarian station (Roots), allergen-friendly station (Clean Eats), and salad bar.

What kind of lettuce options do you have and how is your lettuce prepped and cleaned?

A majority of our lettuce, including baby spinach, field greens/spring mix, chopped romaine, green leaf fillets, and shredded lettuce comes to us ready-to-use from Taylor Farms, Salinas, CA. These products go through a rigorous hydro-wash, multi-stage wash system that adheres to effective, industry standard procedures by onsite quality assurance teams. CAS orders lettuce in this way to ensure that you are tasting clean, fresh greens.

Where can I find allergen-free options? What is Clean Eats?

Allergen-free options are available in all locations and some can be made to order by request. At Red Jacket, Kosher meals are available and there is a dedicated Clean Eats (allergen-free) station that provides dishes free from the top nine allergens (milk, egg, fish, soy, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, sesame). Menu items are labeled for easy identification of allergens. At Mary Jemison, Clean Eats items and Kosher pre-made meals are available for grab and go in our designated cooler. Mary Jemison also features a gluten-friendly station called Lotus. Gluten-friendly menu items can also be found at other locations and are marked with our “GF” symbol on menus, packaging, or online. In addition, our Red Jacket location offers a vegan/vegetarian station, Roots, with plant-based options. We encourage you to contact our Nutrition and Wellness Manager with any questions or to work with you one-on-one to develop a personalized plan that works for you.
