The Science Café Model

The Discovery Cafe is based on the so-called "Science Café model and maintains similar goals as other organizations using the same model. Science Cafés are events that bring together scientists and members of the public. They have their origins in Europe with "Café Scientifique" events aimed at breaking down barriers disconnecting science with society. Today, there are many events using the model around Europe and the United States of America. The goals of these events remain generally the same and are defined by a welcoming, accepting, and casual atmosphere.
