Election to the Edgar Fellows Program

The program admits incoming first year students and a small number of current first year students.

Incoming freshmen who meet the following academic parameters will be sent an invitation to apply to the program (Essay and personal statement):  

  • 93 HS average
  • 3.5 Core GPA (Forgein Language, Math, Science, English and Social Studies) 
  • Evidence of academic rigor
  • SAT scores of at least 1450 (Evidence-Based Reading & Writing and Math)*
  • ACT of at least 32*

(*Test optional for class of 2026 applications)

Additionally, students must show evidence of a lively dedication to scholarship.

Students who are already in attendance at Geneseo and are interested in joining the program in their sophomore year must have earned a grade point average of at least 3.6 and present a minimum of 24 credit hours earned at Geneseo.

Students are chosen for the Edgar Fellows Program from the invited applicants based on a competitive essay and further evidence of academic potential. Generally, approximately thirty incoming students and up to ten current first year students are admitted into the program annually.

Important Application and Admissions Dates:

Applications for admission into the Edgar Fellows Honors Program are due on March 15, 2022.

Admissions Decisions will be received by April 15, 2022.
