CALENDAR OF EVENTS FOR DEC. 9-15

THURSDAY, DEC. 9:

LOCKHART GALLERY EXHIBIT: The Lockhart Gallery at McClellan House presents "Embracing Eatonville." This exhibition is being organized by internationally renowned photographer Carrie Mae Weems and features her work, as well as that of acclaimed photographers Dawoud Bey, Lonnie Graham and Deborah Willis. The show is conceived of as a photographic survey of the people and history of Eatonville, Fla., the nation’s first incorporated African-American town and the home of celebrated Harlem Renaissance author Zora Neale Hurston. The four photographers respond to the town and its residents in diverse ways, ranging from Bey’s straightforward, almost anthropological portraits to Weems’s more poetic, evocatively personal meditations.
