Brief History

Brief History

This project started out as an assignment for a computer graphics course in Spring 2001 by Mark Valites and Dan Born. They were interested in producing a program that may actually be useful to others in the future. So they visited Kirk Anne, a network administrator, who directed them to the physics department, which in turn suggested a particle viewer.

After the Spring 2001 semester, the project was passed down to Jake Clements. Over the Summer of 2001, Jake added many features to the project such as target drawing, selection mode and visualizing transmitted particles. He has also collected data concerning the efficiency of the program by running it on various different computers and operating systems. You may view the results of the data collected in the Graphs section.

By the Fall of 2001, the program had grown far beyond its original conception. Jake Clements therefore began to design a new architecture for the project that would better accommodate future extensions, while Cindy Wong joined to maintain the original program.
