Student Athlete Mentors are volunteers who are currently involved in Geneseo athletics. The role of a mentor is to provide insight, recommendations, and counseling for student athletes. The SARC Mentors are available through office hours and by appointment in the Sawyer room of the Merritt Athletic Center.
Hours: Monday and Wednesday 10am-12pm & 6pm-9pm
Women's Swimming and Diving
Sakura is the founder of the Student Athlete Resource Center and is excited to serve as a Student Athlete Mentor! Sakura is a Junior Biology major with a Mathematics and Chemistry minor from Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. Aside from the Geneseo Women's Swimming and Diving Team, she is a GOLD mentor here on campus. Sakura is doing research under Dr. Yokoyama that looks at the hinging and unhinging of a protein predominant in the formation of fibers in neurons of patients with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and diseases alike. Her favorite aspect of the Student Athlete Resource Center is the student to student mentorship the program fosters and how it brings the campus closer together.
Fun Fact: She can ride a unicycle!
Tyler is a Junior Business Administration major from Honeoye Falls, NY. He is on the Geneseo Men's Lacrosse team and is also a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Council. Tyler's favorite part about the Student Athlete Resource Center is how it gives athletes access to programs that aid in dealing with the hectic student-athlete lifestyle. He is looking forward to all of the positive opportunities that will cross the SARC.
Fun Fact: He has never seen Star Wars or Harry Potter!
Sam is a Senior Communication major with a Sociology minor from Buffalo, NY. She is on the Geneseo Women's Volleyball team and is also a member of the Athletic Outreach Subcommittee for Colleges Against Cancer. Sam's favorite part about the Student Athlete Resource Center is that it provides a space for one-on-one support and guidance. She is very excited to be involved in such an amazing program and to mentor fellow student athletes!
Fun Fact: She did not have to parallel park on her road test!
Kiersten is a sophomore Economics major with double minors in Finance and Communication from Rockville Centre, NY. She is on the Geneseo Women's Volleyball team, in addition to being Retention Manager for Colleges Against Cancer and a member of Fed Challenge. Kiersten's favorite part about the Student Athlete Resource Center is it's great potential to improve the college experience for student athletes. She hopes the SARC will be a place where athletes and relax, do work, and find support!
Fun Fact: She loves watching college basketball!
Kat is a senior Psychology major with a minor in Sociology from Rochester, NY. She is on the Geneseo Women's Volleyball team and is also Secretary of the Psychology Club. Kat's favorite part about the Student Athlete Resource Center is that it provides a space for student athletes to learn from each other and help others.
Fun Fact: Kat has been to Denmark two times!
Women's Track and Field
Emily is a senior Communication major with a minor in Psychology from Canandaigua, NY. She competes as a pole vaulter and long jumper on the Geneseo Women's Track and Field Team. Emily loves that the student athlete resource center is now available because the athletes on campus can now have a cohesive space where they can learn from each other.
Fun Fact: Emily had a mini golden doodle named Zoey :)
Cassidy is a senior Psychology major with a Human Development Minor from Niskayuna, NY. She is on the Geneseo Women's Lacrosse team and is a member of Best Buddies. Cassidy's favorite part about the Student Athlete Resource Center is that is provides athletes the opportunity to connect with other athletes as well as different programs on campus.
Fun Fact: She likes to rollerblade!
Caroline is a senior Biology major with a Human Development minor and is on the pre-med track. She is a member of the Women's Lacrosse team, as well as Colleges Against Cancer and Phi Delta Epsilon Pre-Medical Fraternity. Caroline is excited for the Student Athlete Resource Center to provide a warm, welcoming environment to athletes who need assistance with career development, health concerns, and so much more.
Fun Fact: She has a twin brother!
Angela Van Pelt
Angela is a junior Communication and Political Science double major from Rosendale, NY, in the Mid-Hudson Valley. She is a member of the Geneseo Softball team and is also a Resident Assistant in Ontario Hall. Angela is also a member of Phi Eta Sigma, the First-Year Honor Society, and Lambda Pi Eta, the Communication Honor Society. This past spring, Angela was awarded the Dr. Amy Tolbert Annual Scholarship in Communication from the Department of Communication based on academic and co-curricular achievements. She is looking forward to helping student athletes take advantage of all of the opportunities and resources that Geneseo has to offer.
Fun Fact: She once wrote a paper for a class about the Bear fountain on Main Street!
Morgan is a sophomore Childhood Special Education major with a concentration in Mathematics from Buffalo, NY. She is a member of the Geneseo Women's Volleyball team and was also an Orientation Leader during the summer of 2019. Morgan also serves as Ontario Hall Council President and works in the campus mailroom. She is excited for the Student Athlete Resource Center because it is a great space to get help when needed and connect with athletes from other teams.

I’m a junior biology and math double major from Baldwinsville, NY. I swim breastroke and sprint freestyle on the Women’s Swimming and Diving Team. I’m so excited to be part of the Student Athlete Resource Center because I think it’s an awesome resource for student athletes to get help from and connect with each other.
Fun fact: I know how to solve a Rubik’s Cube!
I am a sophomore Economics and Political Science double major from East Greenbush, New York. Along with being on the Women's Lacrosse team, I am a member of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, Club Ice Hockey and Student Athletic Advisory Council. I am excited to be apart of the Student Athlete Resource Center to help other athletes and to get more involved with the campus and all that it has to offer.
Fun Fact: I learned to ice skate when I was two
I am a junior communication major with a legal studies minor from Long Beach, Long Island, NY. I am a member of the Geneseo Women’s volleyball team as well as the president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. I hope that the SARC becomes a safe space for all student athletes to be more open to asking for help when needed.

Alex is a Junior Biology major with a Human Development minor from Syracuse, New York. She is on the Geneseo Women's Volleyball team, a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, and volunteers in the athletic training room. Alex's favorite part about the Student Athlete Resource Center is its potential to bring student athletes together. She hopes the SARC will be a place to ask for help, do work, and make new friends.
