Geneseo Student Ambassador Elliot Pecora ('24) was interviewed by North Country Public Radio to discuss their June 24th workshop "Exploring Transgender Poetics with Elliot Pecora" at the Adirondack Center for Writing. Pecora also cohosted a public open mic where anyone could share up to 5 minutes of writing. The two events were part of the 2023 Tri-Lakes Pride Festival hosted by the Adirondack North Country Gender Alliance. Pecora's workshop and related events were supported by the Keith ‘11 and Joanna ‘13 Walters Artist-in-Residence Ambassadorship.

Pecora's ambassador project "Rural Transgender Poetics" asks "How might we use in-person and online poetry workshops alongside an online collection of written works to grow both community and self-expression for transgender people living in rural areas?" In addition to this summer's workshop at the ACW, Pecora also hosted a similar workshop for Geneseo students in the spring through the GOLD program and they will be offering at least one more workshop through the GOLD program in the fall.
