Welcome to Counseling Services!  It is a true honor to serve as a mental health therapist on this campus and to work with such an amazing population of students. I see myself as a support in helping people learn more about themselves, what they want in their life, and how they will get there. I view the individuals I work with as the expert in their own lives and their own change agents.

My own experiences attempting to seek help while in college are what led me to ultimately work in college mental health. This is a unique, challenging, and pivotal time of life where people are trying to figure out who they are, where they fit, and where they are headed.  All while managing the stressors, pressure and changes that go along with being a college student. Time and time again I see the responses and behaviors of individuals making sense within their current or prior contexts and see all behavior as a way of adapting and managing with their past and present experiences. I believe every person is doing the best they can at any given moment with the resources they have at that time.  Sometimes ways that have been effective strategies may no longer work or may begin to create or exacerbate issues.  It is when this happens that people will frequently seek out counseling services.

I have worked as a therapist in the community for about 10 years in residential, outpatient and private practice settings before I began my work in college mental health in 2019. I joined SUNY Geneseo Health and Counseling Services In December 2021.

Some of my clinical and populations of interests include eating disorders/disordered eating, trauma, substance use and the LGBTQIA+ community. I utilize a variety of interventions in my work with clients to support each individual in reaching their goals and am trained in EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). The interventions used in sessions will depend on the individual clients goals and needs..

Outside of work I enjoy being with my wife and 3 young kids where my time is primarily filled with chasing after them, spending time outdoors, and going to local parks and playgrounds.
