GENESEO, N.Y. – The Geneseo Wind Ensemble, Clarinet Choir and Saxophone Quartet will perform in Wadsworth Auditorium on Oct. 30 at 8:00 p.m.
Music Department faculty member Ernest Lascell directs the groups. The Wind Ensemble consists of approximately 50 students, the Clarinet Choir has 15 members, and they are joined by the quartet. “The two small ensembles provide a nice contrast to the Wind Ensemble,” said Lascell.

GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo’s new president, Denise A. Battles, was installed yesterday during her inauguration ceremony on campus in Wadsworth Auditorium.
“It is with profound gratitude and deep humility that I accept the presidency of this fine institution,” said President Battles, who is the second woman to lead the college as permanent president in the college’s 144-year history.
In honor of the Inauguration of President Denise Battles, “Revelations: A Musical Medley” will be performed on Oct. 23 at 8 p.m. in Wadsworth Auditorium. Featuring a wide range of student music ensembles, the event is “a great musical sampling,” according to Music Department Chair Gerard Floriano. The concert is free and open to the public.
Floriano noted that Geneseo Chamber Singers, Saxophone Quartet, Clarinet Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, String Band and Percussion Ensemble will all be performing, as well as featuring a duet, solo, jazz combo, and piano solo.
GENESEO, N.Y.–– An uncommon mix of music and vocal range will be presented on October 16, at a joint concert featuring the Geneseo Chamber Singers and the Spectrum Women’s Ensemble. The concert will take place at 8:00 p.m. in Doty Recital Hall.
According to Geneseo Chamber Singers Conductor Gerard Floriano, the performance will incorporate a combination of styles, drawn from “classical choral music, to folk songs and spirituals.”
GENESEO, N.Y. – A series of events are underway at SUNY Geneseo leading up to the inauguration Oct. 22 of Denise A. Battles, the second woman to lead the college as permanent president in the college’s 144-year history.
Battles became Geneseo’s 13th president on July 1. Local community residents and business owners got acquainted with Battles and her husband, Michael Mills, during a reception recently at the Wadsworth Homestead.
GENESEO, N.Y. –– Further work on Geneseo’s new eGarden is underway, with Dan DeZarn, director of the Office of Sustainability, expressing his delight in seeing its evolution thus far. The garden is a one-acre, off-grid education and research facility on the west side of campus that focuses on renewable energy, organic agriculture and sustainable organic waste management.

GENESEO, N.Y. -- The State University of New York at Geneseo will host the fifth annual Front Porch Republic conference, “Sustainable Localism: Sages, Prophets, and Jesters,” Saturday, Oct. 3 in the MacVittie College Union Ballroom.
Noted author and social critic James Howard Kunstler, whose many books include “The Geography of Nowhere,” will deliver the keynote address titled “Looking for Sustainability in All the Wrong Places.”
GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo has joined a diverse coalition of 80 public and private colleges and universities in the country with the goal of improving the college admission application process for all students. The coalition is developing a free platform of online tools to streamline the experience of planning for and applying to college.
