School of Business Dean Search
SUNY Geneseo seeks an experienced academic leader to serve as the Dean of the School of Business. The Dean is a direct report to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and participates in the Provost's Leadership Team for the successful development of academic policy and the maintenance of academic quality in the School of Business.
Duties & Responsibilities of the Dean
The Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer in the School of Business, overseeing strategic short-and long-range planning; budgets; fundraising; curriculum; student recruitment and retention; faculty and staff recruitment, development, support, evaluation, and retention; assessment and reporting; accreditation activities; administration; data- and market-informed strategic development of programs; and community outreach.
The Dean provides overall leadership, direction, advocacy, communication, coordination, and assessment of the school as a whole, and of the programs within it. They establish and maintain a cooperative collegial work climate, leading the school towards improved productivity and relevancy, ensuring the academic integrity and curricular coherence of all programs within it. The Dean cultivates and maintains relations with external partners, including advisory boards and alumni, and is responsible for ensuring compliance with AACSB accreditation. They pursue and bring new ideas and academic best practices to the School. SUNY Geneseo envisions the Dean as a key partner in the strategic expansion of credit and non-credit learning experiences targeted at adult learners, including on-campus, online, and Rochester NY-based programs.
The Dean must hold a deep commitment to a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and multicultural College, and creating a civil and respectful environment that embraces all individuals. This is in accordance with Geneseo's vision to put equity at the center for every student to have access to an honors experience. Ultimately, the Dean is responsible for establishing and directing the vision, mission, and strategic initiatives of the School of Business and how those relate and enhance the institution.
The Dean will foster existing and new partnerships with faculty in other academic units to build more cross-disciplinary connections. This Dean will help define the unique advantages of the College and differentiate its programming to position the School of Business for continued growth and advancement. The Dean will be a critical player in helping the College build a portfolio of new programs that reflect the mission and vision of the College, including masters degree programs and non-credit continuing education opportunities. The Dean also helps to coordinate outreach to alumni and other supporters of the school and will work with the advancement team to engage alumni and raise funds to support the School.
The Dean will provide inspiring leadership and will work to develop comprehensive recruitment strategies that continue to draw top students from New York, over state lines, across the country, and throughout the world. An important focus of the Dean will be increasing retention and graduation rates for undergraduate and graduate programs.
