What is it?
KnightSource is SUNY Geneseo's new primary shopping environment and electronic requisitioning, payment, and receiving system. It provides a completely electronic and paperless workflow for purchase requisitions, purchase orders, receiving, and payment vouchers, and improves efficiency by allowing State and Research Foundation orders to be processed, and campus departments to access all documents, within a single system. Further, all of this functionality is wrapped in an Amazon.com - like shopping experience. Although launched as the College's primary shopping environment and electronic requisitioning, payment, and receiving system, KnightSource will evolve over the years ahead to become Procurement Services' main source for a variety of electronic tools and templates that will allow it to more efficiently process all types of competitive solicitations, manage contracts, and obtain accurate spend data. It also will become the business community's main source for learning about and participating in the College's procurement opportunities.
Its Roots in SUNY Shared Services
KnightSource is a JAGGAER-based comprehensive e-procurement software solution that was implemented through a multi-year collaboration between the SUNY Western New York campuses, Stony Brook University, the System Administration Office of Business Operations & Procurement, and the Research Foundation for SUNY, as part of a SUNY Shared Services initiative, to transform the SUNY procurement environment from its heavily-transactional state to one that is conducive to strategic thinking. SUNY Geneseo is proud to be one of the first two SUNY campuses to go live with this new software, along with University at Buffalo.
Facilities Services moves to KnightSource
Fall 2020 - The Facilities Services Department has started streamlining internal purchasing processes by utilizing the new KnightSource procurement system. It was extremely helpful that the companies they regularly do business with already were part of the KnightSource eMarketplace. Finding parts within KnightSource catalogs actually has been easier than using the main websites of these vendors and, by being able to search for parts and initiate purchases within a single system, Facilities Services is able to reduce associated costs and delivery times.
CIT utilizes online shopping
Fall 2020 - The KnightSource online procurement system enables departments at SUNY Geneseo to maintain the fast pace of campus business, even with some staff working remotely. The centralized online procurement system enables departments to obtain needed materials and supplies in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner. CIT was one of the first two departments to transition to KnightSource in February 2019. CIT's Rachel Beck, who is considered one of KnightSource's "super users," says: "I really like the way you can track where purchases are in the system. It is a big improvement over the paper processes we relied upon in the past."
