Position Description 2016 - 2017

Title:  Graduate Townhouse Director
           Department of Student Life
           Graduate Assistant -- SUNY Geneseo

Reports To:  Associate Director of Student Life

Specific Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree; enrollment in a graduate program; residence hall staff experience preferred; organizational skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills; teamwork orientation; ability to work within budgets; understanding of student development and residential education. 

Compensation: Tuition Waiver (SUNY Geneseo)
                           Stipend – $8415 per year
                           Furnished apartment in Livingston Hall, cable television, network access & local phone
                           (living on campus is an obligation of this position)
                           Meal Stipend -- $300 per semester

Terms of Employment: August 1, 2016 through May 31, 2017.  When classes are in session, work is not to exceed 20 hours per week.  This position is a live-in position requiring extensive training, evening work and weekend time commitments at times.  It is expected that the Graduate Townhouse Director serve in an “on-call” duty rotation. 

General Duties & Responsibilities

Administration of Saratoga Townhouse Community
  • Maintain 10 scheduled office hours per week.  During this time you may take care of the tasks listed below.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and attend all aspects of designated Townhouse openings and closings (beginning and end of semester and holiday closings)
  • Oversee room condition reports for Townhouses (primarily beginning and end of semester)
  • Handle all related tasks to Townhouse management (damage billing, occupancy reports, work orders, etc.)
  • Conduct weekly walk-thru and inspection of the Saratoga Townhouse Terrace and Commons
  • Assist with housing selection (Fall or Spring)
  • Serve as a resource to all students in Townhouse community
  • Meet with residents as needed
  • Supervise the Townhouse Community Organizer
  • Plan, organize, and implement the Life After Geneseo program series
Development
  • Supervise and evaluate Townhouse Community Organizer (TCO) each semester
  • Attend weekly Residence Life staff meeting (1 - 2 hours)
  • Conduct weekly individuals with TCO (1 hour)
  • Participate actively in training of RAs and TCO through presentations (prior to start of classes)
Community Development & Residential Education
  • Be visible and accessible to students who live in the Townhouses
  • Serve as a resource for Townhouse Council and TCO (secondary advisor)
  • Maintain programming budgets (TCO, hall council, staff development) and track community building and programming in the Townhouse community
  • Be a resource to TCO and assist in the development of programs to meet intended learning outcomes and goals
  • Productively address all student concerns and roommate conflicts in the Townhouse community
Other
  • Attend weekly department staff meetings (1 - 2 hours)
  • Attend weekly one on one meetings with supervisor (1 hour)
  • Participate in "on-call" duty rotation schedule
  • Participate in department-wide initiatives
