Q: Why Geneseo students?
A: Geneseo students are hardworking young candidates who offer a drive to learn and a disciplined work ethic. Our students are motivated to learn as much as they can about the workplace, and to work as hard as possible in order to put themselves on track for future success.
Q: Why Handshake?
A: Handshake is an excellent resource for employers. It offers a completely Free job posting service that is easy to manage and customize. Every Geneseo student has an account on Handshake, and it is the primary place that our students go to look for employment opportunities.
Q: I only have a generic email address, so I’m having a hard time making an employer account. What should I do?
A: Handshake prefers business email addresses, so if you’re having a hard time making an account for any reason, please call our office at 585.245.5734 or email us at ses@geneseo.edu, and we will help you set one up, or post your jobs for you.
Q: I am a part of the faculty/staff at SUNY Geneseo and I want to hire a student for my office. What is the best way to go about this?
A: If you are a member of the Geneseo faculty or staff, then you already have a Handshake account; you just need to activate it. To learn more about setting up your account, please read more on this Career Design Center page. Once you’ve set up your account, you can post jobs under the SUNY Geneseo employer account. Just specify the division you’re hiring for and you should have no problem.
