In the world of intercollegiate athletics, being voted the best at what you do by your peers is a unique honor. For coaches, being tabbed national coach of the year is recognition that only a handful achieve during their careers.

Marking the 49th year of academic dance performances at SUNY Geneseo, the college’s Department of Theatre and Dance will present the Geneseo Dance Ensemble in its annual spring dance concert, “49Live: Leaping Boundaries,” on Feb. 23-26 in the Alice Austin Theatre.

The Feb. 23-25 performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday matinee will start at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are available at the Student Association Ticket Office or online.

CAS chefs

The Campus Auxiliary Services (CAS) culinary team won a silver medal during a recent Market Basket Culinary Competition at Skidmore College. The American Culinary Federation sanctioned the event, allowing chefs to hone their craft and put their knowledge and skills to the test in a competitive format.

In their neighborhoods and across the world, efforts of Geneseo alumni transform individuals, communities and generations. We recently shared the stories in the Scene magazine of several alumni who demonstrate the power we each have to make a difference, in large or small ways.

For more than 14 years, the medical director of the Lauderdale Center for Student Health and Counseling, Dr. Steven Radi, has been dedicated to making a difference in the lives and wellbeing of students.

Radi arrives at his office at 7:40 a.m. Though he starts his day by reviewing labs and communication from students, Radi sees patients by 8 a.m., which he says accounts for 95 percent of his job.
