Professor Karleen West, chair of SUNY Geneseo’s Department of Political Science and International Relations, has been named to the third cohort—the first of two in 2025—of the Department Chair Leadership Institute (DCLI) at the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU).
Rachel Britton '18, a writer/editor/translator, has published her first book of poems in translation from Icelandic, A Woman Looks Over Her Shoulder, by Brynja Hjálmsdóttir (Circumference Books, 2024). An excerpt of the translation also received the American-Scandinavian Foundation's Leif and Inger Sjöberg Prize in 2023.
SUNY Geneseo’s director of counseling services, Jaime Castillo, PhD, LMHC, has been named a fellow of SUNY’s 2025 Hispanic Leadership Institute (HLI). Ten faculty and staff from nine campuses have been selected as the 2025 class fellows, the eighth class since the program’s inception in 2017.
Ten SUNY Geneseo students will serve as Presidential Scholars for the 2024–25 academic year. The students are top-achieving seniors who exemplify the college’s institutional values and assist the provost and president in promoting academic excellence on campus.

SUNY Geneseo's Department of Theatre and Dance proudly presents the Geneseo Dance Ensemble in Journeys Unfolding, dedicated to Myrtle Merritt, and features works by student choreographers with 31 performers. The concert, artistically directed and produced by professor of dance studies Jonette Lancos, will be presented in the Alice Austin Theatre on November 14, 15, and 16 at 7:30 p.m. and November 17 at 2 p.m.
