Optics and Spectroscopy Research at SUNY Geneseo

At SUNY Geneseo, Dr. George Marcus and his students have set up a new cavity ringdown spectroscopy laboratory to study aerosol particles suspended in atmospheric samples.  Marcus uses laser beams which bounce back and forth off of very high reflectivity mirrors to create path lengths of several kilometers in his lab.  This enables precise measurements of trace amounts of atmospheric contaminants.
