Position Summary

HIGHLIGHTS

Electronic Equipment Mechanics install, service, and repair the electronic equipment for the campus. They are responsible for responding to calls in a timely fashion and assisting the campus in a professional and efficient manner.

Required Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Open-Competitive: four years of full-time experience under a skilled television or electronics mechanic, which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program.

Substitution: an associates degree in electronic technology, or successful completion of a two-year technical professional certification program in the electronics field may be substituted for two years of the required experience; OR graduation from a high school technical electronics education program recognized by the New York State Education Department as meeting the standards for technical education may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

This position will be supervised by the Maintenance Supervisor 2, SG-17.

Supervision Exercised

This position may supervise subordinate maintenance personnel.

Function 1: Maintain and repair the campus fire alarm systems

-Test electronic components and circuits following troubleshooting procedures to locate defects in systems
-Replace or repair defective components, wiring and as necessary, adjust mechanical parts
-Adjust and calibrate equipment to meet manufacturer’s specifications
-Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as required
-Maintain proper records of repairs, calibrations and tests made
-Order and inventory necessary materials and parts for repairs and or replacements
