SUNY Geneseo recently welcomed 150 high school students and mentors from across New York for Camp College, a 3-day college-access experience for upper-level high school students.

SUNY Geneseo is one of the nation's best institutions for undergraduate education, according to The Princeton Review. The education services company included the College in its 2019 edition of "The Best 384 Colleges."

Kyle Matthews, assistant professor of Spanish, led a group of 10 Geneseo students who joined 19 students from other campuses as part of the SUNY Stands With Puerto Rico initiative. The students helped repair and replace roofs, doors, and windows on residents' homes.

Fnal exams wrapped up Wednesday and crew members have begun to prepare the Ira S. Wilson Ice Arena for Saturday’s two undergraduate commencement ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. An estimated 1,194 students will participate in the ceremonies.

Some 120 alumni from as far back as 1960 who sang in the Geneseo Chamber Singers will be on campus this weekend celebrating the organization’s 60th anniversary with a variety of events, culminating in a spring concert May 5 at 8 p.m. in Wadsworth Auditorium, assisted by the Alumni Choir.

"WIG" is a new initiative to improve student retention rates within the Division of Academic Affairs’ Office of the Provost. “We’ve only been at this for one semester, but already we’re speaking a common language and building a culture that will allow us to not only do our best work within the whirlwind, but in spite of it," says Provost Stacey Robertson. "It’s not an ‘either/or’ choice: We’re very confident that we will achieve our Widely Important Goal and increase retention.”  

A student team from SUNY Geneseo’s VentureWorks entrepreneurship program won first place in the advanced technology track in the finals of the ninth annual New York State Business Plan Competition (NYBPC) April 27 in Albany.
