As SUNY Geneseo continues to implement the College’s strategic plan, faculty and staff will soon have an opportunity to directly contribute to key objectives under the Access and Success focus area. On April 2, faculty and staff will be invited to participate in the Geneseo Employee Opinion Survey, which will measure concepts such as workplace satisfaction and campus culture.

SUNY Geneseo is on a new list of the nation’s top public colleges, ranking 52nd out of 485 four-year public institutions in the country and 15th among the 74 colleges in the east on the survey, compiled by Business First, a Buffalo-based publication.

Campus Auxiliary Services will hold its annual food show from 11 a.m. to  2 p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 28, in the MacVittie College Union ballroom.

SUNY Geneseo recognized individuals, student organizations, and community organizations with volunteer and service awards during the college’s annual Volunteer and Service Awards Dinner March 21.

Geneseo is continuing to implement the highest priority (Phase I) action items that were identified in the Geneseo 2021 Strategic Plan. Out of a pool of $1 million identified to advance those items, $350,000 was directed to time-sensitive student recruitment efforts.

Leah McGray, director of instrumental activities at SUNY Geneseo, has a busy conducting schedule this weekend with performances by the Geneseo Wind Ensemble March 23 and the Geneseo Symphony Orchestra March 25. Both concerts are free and open to the public.

Alumna Leandra Marie Griffith ’16 has won a 2018-19 U.S. Student Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) award for Belgium.

Matt Golombek, a senior research scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and a veteran of space missions to Mars, will deliver the Fifteenth Annual American Rock Salt lecture in Geology March 29 at 7:30 p.m. in Newton Hall Room 202. He will address “How to Select a Landing Site on Mars.”

SUNY Geneseo may soon add Cuba to its list of destinations for study abroad. Provost Stacey Robertson and Associate Director of the Study Abroad Office Sam Cardamone were part of a 21-member, nine-campus SUNY delegation attending the Congreso Universidad 2018 in Havana Feb. 11-17.

Marlene Laruelle, a research professor of international affairs at the George Washington University, will deliver the annual Kenneth Roemer Lecture on World Affairs at SUNY Geneseo. Her talk, "Making Sense of Russia: Putin’s Fourth Term and its Implications for Russia and the World,” will take place at 4 p.m., Thursday, March 22 in the Doty Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

The SUNY Geneseo campus is undergoing a series of infrastructure and renovation projects, ranging from roof replacements to electrical and telecommunication upgrades. The following is a list of current projects, updates and completion dates.

The Department of Student Life has redesigned the housing options on campus to more closely align with its educational priorities, which is to help ensure that Geneseo students are best prepared to build positive relationships and become socially responsible citizens and engaged learners.

Preparations for GREAT Day April 17 are well underway and will include the Jack ’76 and Carol ’76 Kramer Endowed lecture by Barbara Kellerman, who will address “Professionalizing Leadership,” the title of her latest book.

$60,000 in funding for a Center for Integrative Learning will support efforts in the planning, professional development, and organizational design of a Center for Integrative Learning, anticipated to be in place by fall 2018.

SUNY Geneseo alumnus Gerald Rhodes ’74, who has made significant contributions in research and development in the pharmaceutical industry, will receive an honorary doctor of science degree during Geneseo’s morning Commencement May 12.

SUNY Geneseo is among the top 10 community partners recognized nationally by the National Voter Registration Day organization for the Center for Community’s efforts in collecting registrations during the 2017 Voter Registration Day. Geneseo was one of two colleges in the top 10.

The Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) named Milne Library at SUNY Geneseo the best in the country with its 2018 Excellence in Academic Libraries Award in the college category.

Geneseo has been named a Top Producer of U.S. Student Fulbright awards for 2017-18, placing third among all 742 Carnegie Classification master's degree institutions.

Geneseo is ranked No. 10 among medium- size schools on the Peace Corps’ 2018 Top Volunteer-Producing Colleges and Universities list. Currently, 23 Geneseo alumni are volunteering with the program worldwide.
