Position Summary

HIGHLIGHTS

Grounds workers serve as a member of a work crew performing a variety of grounds maintenance, gardening and manual labor duties. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the appearance and condition of grounds, athletic fields, walkways and roads.

The ideal candidate will be able to read, write and communicate effectively. He or she will be a team player and have previous experience in landscaping, snow removal, gardening or manual labor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and to communicate effectively to obtain and convey information.*

*When required to operate a motor vehicle, applicants must possess a valid New York State drivers license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.

Function 1: Zone Maintenance

-Properly maintain assigned areas according to landscape maintenance guidelines
-Perform trash, litter, and leaf collection and disposal
-Assist with Arboretum maintenance and improvement along with pesicide applications

Functon 2: Equipment Operation

-Participate in equipment operation and maintenance training sessions
-Safely operate and maintain hand and power equipment
-Perform pre-op checks and routine preventative maintenance
-Maintain equipment in a satisfactory, clean and operable manner
-Assist in seasonable equipment changeover

-Be familiar with snow removal procedures and proper routes
