Chemistry Professors Receive $200k Grant

Chemistry professors Kazu Yokoyama and Rabeka Alam, along with collaborators in the Biology and Geological Sciences departments, received a $200,000 grant from the National Science Foundation's Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) for their project, “Acquisition of a Three Dimensional Raman Imaging System for the Integrated Science Center of SUNY Geneseo.” The grant will support the purchase of a state-of-the art 3D Raman Imaging Microscope, which provides high-resolution images describing the chemical structure of materials. The microscope is the only one of its among colleges and universities in western NY and will be employed for both research and teaching laboratories at Geneseo.
