Drupal Training and User Guide

Drupal is a website content management system used by Geneseo. Drupal allows users to create and display web content on geneseo.edu.

Note: Geneseo upgraded to Drupal 8 on August 10, 2017. This guide has been updated to reflect the Drupal CMS changes. Please contact CIT if you find any discrepancies.

What is Drupal?

Drupal allows campus members to create, edit and delete pages, manage site menus, and upload files and photos. Drupal has many additional features beyond these basics. Users are able to add media files of various types (e.g. PDFs) to their websites. They can also easily create forms and photo slideshows. Websites implemented in Drupal automatically inherit the Geneseo website design, navigation, and branding so visitors get a more consistent website experience.

What is New in Drupal 8?

  • New Website Editing Interface.
  • WorkBench Menu in Top Nav Menu for Most Common Tasks
  • Basic Pages vs Advanced Pages
  • (Important**) Web Accessibility Changes
