A Message from the Nutrition and Wellness Coordinator
Hi! I’m Heather Carrera, the Nutrition and Wellness Manager for CAS. I’m on campus to help all students experience optimal health and wellness here at SUNY Geneseo. Our mission is to provide the highest quality dining experience for our diverse campus and guests. As part of our commitment, we are able to accommodate those that have special diets, food allergies, and other health concerns.
We take special diets and allergies very seriously. I am available to meet with students one-on-one to address any nutrition-related concerns, such as food allergies, food sensitivities and intolerances, dietary restrictions, and general health and nutrition questions. While we label all menu items with icons to denote whether they are gluten-friendly, vegetarian or vegan, and dairy-free, it is important to remember that we can only truly help the customers that reach out to us to discuss their needs. With gluten-friendly, kosher, vegan and top-8 allergy free stations on campus, there are options that suit everyone.
I believe that food is much more than calories; it’s full of information and the quality of the food we eat dictates our ability to fight off illness, sleep well, focus and have plenty of energy. Being healthy means becoming aware of the healthy options around you, and making the right decisions for your individual needs. I encourage students to contact me with any nutrition questions because I’m here to help!
