Helping campus units manage their hazardous materials by providing assistance waste pick-up and disposal, as well as chemical inventory is important to the Chemistry Department to ensure all regulatory conditions are met. Information for the SUNY Geneseo Chemistry Department, including campus and departmental SOPs, online submission form(s), and links to associated State and Federal Environmental Regulations in the waste management program my be found here. The online waste submission forms allow for trained personnel to submit hazardous waste documentation. Please take a moment to examine the college's Chemical Waste Procedures, which explain the proper methods for segregation, accumulation, labeling, and removal of all chemical waste generated on campus at SUNY Geneseo. DO NOT USE THIS/THESE FORM(S) OR ATTEMPT TO MANAGE HAZARDOUS WASTE UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN FORMALLY TRAINED AND HAVE DOCUMENTED ANNUAL TRAINING* IN SUNY GENESEO CHEMISTRY RECORDS. Current Training Records are kept in ISC 329. Trainings for the Chemistry Department occur within the first three weeks of every academic semester. Students who do not sign up for training within the posted training window may be denied access to the course or program. Please see your lead professor if you have any questions. |

SUNY Geneseo Online Waste Management Program
SUNY Geneseo conveniently offers an online Hazardous Waste Management webform for submission of hazardous waste, individual unwanted chemicals, and used oil for campus personnel and students who have been adequately trained per RCRA.

Responsibilities of the Generator of Hazardous Waste
It is the user's responsibility to use the correct forms and enter appropriate data for chemical container submission to EHS for pickup. The "Generator of Hazardous Waste" is defined by the individual responsible for the management and documentation of hazardous waste, usually the research professor (or designated research student proxy), the academic professor, or staff who supervises the laboratory facility in which hazardous waste is produced. Improperly completed and/or submitted containers will not be picked up by EHS.
