Break Information

Spring Break 2024

Residence Halls close at 10 AM on Saturday, March 9 and reopen for residents on Sunday, March 17 at 10 AM.

*Please note that Saratoga Terrace does not close for any break but student's still need to sign up for break, if they are staying on campus.

For students with extenuating circumstances (international students, students with academic commitments during this time, housing insecurity, etc.) you can request break stay through this link (link closes Feb 29).

Important Break Closing Information

Room preparation includes taking out trash, closing and locking your windows, unplugging everything (microfridges and fish tanks do not need to be unplugged for Spring Break), lowering your blinds, and locking your doors.

We will check your room after departure for health and safety concerns and that all room preparation has been completed for the safety and security of the building.

Window closures are imperative to maintain the heat envelope in the building and to ensure your room is secure. If you do not close your windows, our staff may need to move your items or climb on your furniture to do so.

We lock all doors behind us. Students must bring their keys home with them. Availability for lock outs will be limited upon your return and you may have to wait a significant time period, if you do not bring your key with you.

If you are in a half empty double all items should be on your side of the room and your room must have a completely empty side for anyone moving in.

When you leave, please remember to bring all important items with you. There will be no access to the halls for non-approved break stay students, and we will not be able to let you back in to retrieve an important item left behind. This includes identification, keys, medications, glasses, electronics, etc.

The week before closing, our staff will place “I’m Out of Here” signs on your door. When you leave (not before) please sign this sheet so the staff knows you have departed.

If you have any items a staff member has previously told you are prohibited, please take them home during this break.

If you have any concerns about leaving for break, please contact your building AC or RD.

Checking Out

Students not returning for Spring 2024 (graduating, studying abroad, released, leave of absence, etc.) must go to their service desk, locate the "Express Check-out Box", complete an express check-out envelope (and insert your key if you are in a key access hall), and deposit it in the box to properly check-out. Damage billing room inspections will occur after you have vacated the room. Failure to check out properly will result in improper check-out and lock change fees.
