Geneseo alumni college and university presidents returned to campus during Homecoming & Family Weekend to participate in a breakfast panel discussion on careers.

SUNY Geneseo alumnae Hannah Hunter Chhan ’14 and Samantha Vell ’16 were both working at the Berkeley International School in Thailand. Together, they helped build a student teaching abroad experience in partnership with Geneseo's Ella Cline Shear School of Education.

A new scholarship endowment will memorialize Amy S. Janicki ‘13, who was a member of the Sigma Delta Tau sorority at Geneseo. Janicki’s parents, Dennis and Susan Janicki of Cheektowaga, N.Y., and fundraising support led by Madeline (Maddie) Herrick ‘14, a sorority sister, established the $25,000 endowment.

The SUNY Geneseo Alumni Association (SGAA) recognized three individuals — John Lombardo ’74, Chad Salitan ’09, and former athletic director Marilyn Moore — for their professional achievements at the college’s annual alumni reunion, a two-day weekend event that drew more than 700 alumni and friends to Geneseo on June 7 and 8. 

The Greg ’64 and Elizabeth O’Connell Family Endowment supports general scholarships for students with financial need from the Downstate New York area with a preference for students living in Brooklyn, particularly the Red Hook area.

Jeremy Jackson ’16 found a way this summer to combine his two passions: literature and theater. Jackson served multiple roles both behind the scenes and on stage working with the Shake on the Lake theater troupe.

Some 700 alumni and friends will be returning to the SUNY Geneseo campus June 1-2 for Reunion 2018. The annual event will highlight class years ending in three and eight, affinity anniversaries, and a celebration of the 51-year career of Tom Matthews, associate dean of leadership and service.

Alumna Leandra Marie Griffith ’16 has won a 2018-19 U.S. Student Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) award for Belgium.

Composer and singer Ysaÿe Barnwell ’67, ’68 will join Geneseo’s celebration of the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. by conducting a Community Sing on Tuesday, February 27 at 6 p.m. in the College Union Ballroom. The sing is free and open to the public.

SUNY Geneseo has announced a $500,000 gift from alumni Kevin and Nancy Gavagan in support of several initiatives within the college’s strategic plan that enhance the quality of the educational experience students receive at Geneseo.

On stage, Alex MacDonald ’08 is a musician. His sliding, thumping and stepping feet are instruments. His free-flow tap is rooted in improvisation, complementing the notes, not choreographed for them.

Bonadonna has made the elimination of the virus her personal mission, leading education and advocacy efforts for polio eradication for hundreds of members in Virginia. She has also traveled to Nigeria once and to India seven times to inoculate children. This coming spring, she’s off to Ethiopia.

Randy French ’83, a science teacher at Geneseo Central School, also journeyed to Antarctica last year, made possible by a Grosvenor Teaching Fellowship from the National Geographic Society.
