Study Abroad Interns

Study Abroad Interns are Geneseo students who have previously studied abroad. These students hold drop-in peer advising hours and offer their time to assist current Geneseo students in selecting the right program, working through the application process, and learning specifics about their respective programs.

Make a peer advising appointment through EAB Navigate. Instructions can be found here.

Campus Engagement:

In addition my work in the Study Abroad Office, I am also currently involved with the Econ Department FED Challenge team. I also have interned with Cultures Learning Together as an ESL tutor, and still continue to tutor both English and Spanish on campus. I also enjoy attending Geneseo culture club dinners and other events.

Why are you excited to be an intern?

My study abroad experiences changed my perception of myself, the world, and have aided me in so many broad aspects of my life. To those like myself who have had this experience, it becomes such a vital part of their personal growth, and often a first step into a long life of traveling. Being able to have a role in aiding other students to have this experience is very important to me. Using my knowledge and experience to help them make the best decisions for their desires and academic needs would be a pleasure for me to aid in.

Fun Fact:

After my semester abroad in Argentina, I traveled back to Cordoba within 7 months of leaving!

Why did I decide to study abroad?

For me, I was always firm that I wanted to study abroad. Since I can remember I have been fascinated with other cultures and languages, so studying abroad was just a part of my college experience that I knew I wanted to have. Specifically, I wanted to go to Spain for its beautiful architecture, and was able to do that through the faculty led program I attended. However, I knew I really wanted to live in and more so spend a semester in Argentina or Latin America because I always thought cultures within Latin America were so warm and moved at the pace I wanted for myself.

What’s next on your travel bucket list?

While I continue to travel back to Argentina, I would love to explore other parts of Latin America including Mexico, Colombia, The Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. Hopefully I will be able to meet up with friends I made during my semester abroad most likely in Mexico City in years to come.
